What would you say if I told you that Bossnass are a tremendously talented, gifted, blessed UK band that know a thing or two about classy songwriting, musicianship, and production and that you are immediately required to buy their music or suffer the consequences of being labelled completely stupid? You would have to face being pointed and whispered at for months before the neighbours had you evicted.. and even then, you'd find it awfully difficult to get credit anywhere in the UK and mainland Europe because no-one would believe you had any common sense! The good old British bobbies would be stopping your car at every opportunity just to give you a hard time... not with it is it! Do the right thing and buy this EP! With hints of Jamiroqui and Stevie W and well.. Bossnass, what we have here is a truly magnificent teaser to what's coming soon in the form of a fully fledged album! This delightfully packaged mega EP opens with the title track One Beat Touch Commander: with it's intrinsically brilliant guitar and vocal work that make you wish you'd written it all and been responsible for the superb production. The musicanship is endlessly brilliant with dead smart drums and bass work spread evenly and precisely throughout the entire track. The kind of track that would have made Roy Thomas Baker (of Queen's 'A Night at the Opera' fame) and George Martin of Beatles fame, very proud indeed. This is the stuff of greatness... superb and clever lyrics, absolutely dead-on production, and an arrangement that firnly establishes the band as 'Platinum-ready' artists. Smoke in my eyes follows the magic carpet ride we started with 'Commander'; a little excursion through the kind of tremendousness that Bossnass have manged to capture on CD. I can't help marvelling at the way the vocals are handled... if they could get even remotely close to this live, then you'd have one of the greatest British live performance bands ever to have emerged in recent years! It must be frustrating to say the least being a member of such a gloriously gifted band and not being on the Queen's honours list for an MBE! Smoke in my eyes is invariably excellent stuff (keep an eye on the superb guitar work)... enough said! I ain't lookin to pass you by meanwhile, gives us a taste of the pro dynamics, studio colourings, and vibrant energy that this band of brothers appear to delight in. The vocals are so well arranged it's actually hard to beive that the production alone didn't cost many thousands of pounds and even more dollars to get right. I would be very very surprised if Bossnass weren't planning and playing a US Tour in 2006! If they're not, the industry needs a wake up slap... good n hard across the chops! You can't stop me is all I have left to listen to on this remarkable EP. The cleverness that this band now has to live up to to quench our thirsty expectations is pouring over the cup's edge to the point where a huge saucer will no longer do! Watch out for the brilliant bass and drum work... this takes skill folks... real skill and it's in complete abundance here. Vocals are magnificently delivered and again we have a startling reminder of where excellence in production and composition combine to make you drool! Guys... you have produced an astonishing EP and I cannot wait for the album... the rest of the planet doesn't have much choice in the matter either!
